The Bucs are pleased to have Bob Ferguson re-join the Des Moines community as Head Coach and General Manager this season! "Fergy" a native of Kingston, Ontario, originally joineed the Buccaneer orginazation in the summer of 1990 after spending 9 years with the Sioux City Musketeers.
During his time with the Bucs, Coach Ferguson brought multiple championships to Des Moines, and built a foundation for success that still stands today. In 1991-92, he led the Bucs to their first ever Anderson Cup (regular season) and Gold Cup (national championship) wins. In 1993-94, the team won the Anderson Cup championship again, and during the 1994-95 season, Bob led the Bucs to the Triple Crown Championship (regular season, playoff, and national championship). Through his 14 seasons in the USHL, Bob earned a record of 426-224-22, and was named USHL Coach of the Year 5 times.
In 1995, Bob left Des Moines to take the Head Coach position with the Indianapolis Ice of the International Hockey League, where he remained until 1998. That year, Bob found himself in the warm weather of Naples, Florida, coaching the Florida Everblades of the East Coast Hockey League. Bob led the Everblades for the last 3 years, guiding them to the league's best regular season performance in 1999-2000.
Bob and his wife Lisa moved back to Central Iowa this August, and now reside in West Des Moines with their two children: Brett (14) and Kaylie (9).
