Kevin Kasel: Tell me about your family life, do you have any brothers or sisters?

Sean Bertsch: I have one brother and two sisters. Family life is kinda hectic, 'cause we're all in sports, all at the same time. So my parents are running all over the place a lot. But other then that, it is pretty normal.

Kevin: How old where you when you started playing hockey?

Sean: I was four years old. I played rec league.

Kevin: Why did you start?

Sean: Mainly because of my Dad. My Dad was a big hockey guy. He played college hockey, coached college hockey. So got me started on it.

Kevin: Where did he coach at in college?

Sean: He played and coached at Colorado College.

Kevin: Why did you decide to play for the Bucs?

Sean: I planned to try-out for teams in the USHL and I ended up with an injury over the summer, so I couldn't go to any try-outs. And the Bucs called me and said we'll take ya. I was planning on coming here to try-out and my Dad knows Fergy and knows he is a good coach. So, I came out here.

Kevin: Have you always been a forward?

Sean: Yep. Yep, always been. Mainly center, but I have played wing too.

Kevin: If I won the lottery, the first thing I'd do is ...

Sean: I probably check with any of the family and see if they need some money. After that, probably just save it.

Kevin: Do you have a favorite pro or college team?

Sean: Well obviously, my favorite college is going to be CC. After that, my favorite pro team will probably be the Avalanche. Just because they are my home team.

Kevin: What about a favorite player?

Sean: My favorite player is Joe Sakic. He is a good leader and a good goal-scorer.

Kevin: Do you have a nickname?

Sean: Not really. Back home, my Dad and his friends all called me 'Sean Dog'. But after that, nothing.

Kevin: Best advice you've ever received (doesn't have to be hockey-related):

Sean: Probably that, whatever you do, give it your all. Things will happen.

Kevin: Tell me about some of your goals for the future.

Sean: Well, obviously I was to play college hockey somewhere. Division I preferably. If that falls through, I will probably goto college and just go on with life.

Kevin: Finish this sentence: The fans would be surprised to know that I ...

Sean: I have broken my collar bone three times in the past year.

Kevin: What is your favorite hockey memory?

Sean: Probably me Pee-wee AA year. I kinda had a slow start the first five games. Then after that, I really picked it up, I ended up with 107 points at the end the season.

Kevin: My first job was ...

Sean: I worked for an older man. At first, I helped him move out of his house. Then, he hired me to help work at his new house by doing yard work and painting and all sorts of stuff.

Kevin: What would you consider your dream car?

Sean: I kind of like the Cadillac Escalate. But I have to have chrome rims on it too.

Kevin: When did you first hear about the Bucs?

Sean: I really don't know that much about Junior "A" hockey until Midgets. That was three years ago, I came to my first Buccaneers game when I came here for the Midget Buc Bowl. That's when I first learned about 'em.

Kevin: Did you have any other choices?

Sean: Well, some other places were talking to me. Like Sioux Falls, I went to their try-outs, and that's when I got injured. Topeka was talking to me. And a couple of teams in the AWHL were talking to me too.

Kevin: What can't you imagine living without?

Sean: I think it would be really hard to live without cars. Just because you got to get places. That be pretty much impossible to get places on time without having a car.

Kevin: Do you have a favorite movie?

Sean: No, not really. I like the Austin Powers movies. I'm a big comedy fan. I like to laugh at the movie.

Kevin: Finish this sentence. My team mates think I'm...

Sean: Probably, the youngest and smallest guy on the team. But, I am really not the smallest, they just look at my age.

Kevin: Who is your favorite non-hockey athlete?

Sean: I'll go with, Ed McCaffrey for the Denver Broncos, just because he's so good and he's willing to sacrifice everything for the catch and to help out the team.

Kevin: If you could have lunch with one person, past or present, who would it be?

Sean: I probably have lunch with my Grandpa. He passed away last year and I would like to sit down with him one last time and have a good conversation with him.

Kevin: If you were a head coach of a team what would you do?

Sean: I would make sure my team had good unity and good work-ethics. And I would also be very disciplined. And I would like to go in and socialize with the players, too. So, I would get a good feel for 'em and everything.

Kevin: What is your favorite food?

Sean: Probably my Mom's home-cooked meals.

Kevin: Do you have a specific pre-game meal? If so, what is it?

Sean: I don't really have a specific one, I just eat pasta before games.

Kevin: Who is your favorite band?

Sean: I don't really have a favorite band. I am mainly a rap guy. But, I listen to pretty much everything.

Kevin: What is your favorite TV show/book?

Sean: My favorite TV show will probably be Friends. It's really funny and I like to watch it. I don't have a favorite book either. I read a lot of good ones.

Kevin: If you started your own NHL franchise, and you could pick any player, who would you start with and why?

Sean: I pick Joe Sakic. Not only is he my favorite player, but like I said, he is a great leader and I think he could lead a team well.

Kevin: Who would you have on your hockey "Dream Team"?

Sean: Well, starting with Joe Sakic, I also have Mike Modano, Pavel Bure, Patrick Roy, pretty much most of the guys that are in the All-Star game. Those are usually the best guys and they're good leaders on the team.

Kevin: If you were stranded on a desert island, whom would you want to be stranded with ... Britney Spears, Cameron Diaz, Sarah Michelle Gellar or Tara Reid?

Sean: How about "E" All of the above. No, I probably go with Tara Reid.

Kevin: What is something you've always wanted to do, but haven't yet?

Sean: Well, recently I found out about a sport called kite boarding. It looks like a whole lot of fun. I was going to do it last summer but, I was injured so I couldn't. But, that's definitely I want to do.

Kevin: Who would you rather be, Bugs Bunny or Road Runner?

Sean: Road Runner, cause he's super fast.

Kevin: Who would you rather be, Superman or Batman?

Sean: Probably, Batman 'cause he gets a lot of girls and he has a cool car.

Kevin: Did you and Jon (Rudnick) talk about this one prior?

Sean: No.

Kevin: Because you both gave similar answers.

Sean: He does though. He's got Batwoman. You don't see Superman with a lot of girls, except for that one lady. But other then that.

Kevin: If I could change one thing about me, it would be ...

Sean: I wish a little bit bigger, like tall-wise. But other then that, nothing.

Kevin: Any advice for younger hockey players?

Sean: Be patient, work hard, learn the basics and things will come.
