Davis Drewiske - Number 5

Last Team: Hudson High School

Davis joins the Bucs after playing for Hudson High School and Team Wisconsin AAA hockey teams during the 2002-03 season.

His greatest hockey achievement has been the WIAA State Championship in 2001. Davis’s motto on the ice is, Will can beat skill. His favorite NHL player is Adam Foote, of the Colorado Avalanche because of his toughness.

Kevin Kasel: Tell me about your family life, do you have any brothers or sisters?

Davis Drewiske: Yep, I have one brother who is 16 and two younger sisters who are 10 and 8.

Kevin: How old were you when you started playing hockey?

Davis: I was five.

Kevin: Why did you decide to play for the Bucs?

Davis: I was drafted by the Bucs this spring.

Kevin: Have you always been a defensemen?

Davis: Yes.

Kevin: Tell me about the past teams you've played for.

Davis: Through high school, I played for Hudson High School for three, and before and after (the high school season) with Team Wisconsin, Triple AAA Midgets.

Kevin: If I won the lottery, the first thing I'd do is ...

Davis: Probably buy a cabin and a bunch of land up north.

Kevin: Do you have a favorite pro or college team?

Davis: Favorite college probably be the Wisconsin Badgers and pro team Minnesota Wild.

Kevin: What about a favorite player?

Davis: Would probably be Peter Forsberg.

Kevin: Tell me about some of your goals for the future.

Davis: Short-term, this year, I hope to get us into the play-offs and make a run in the play-offs and keep improving as a team. And hope to get a scholarship to play Division I hockey and continue to play hockey as long as I can.

Kevin: What is your favorite hockey memory?

Davis: Probably winning the State High School tournament when I was a sophomore.

Kevin: Where did you go on your last vacation?

Davis: Geez, it's been a while ... out to Montana, hiking and fishing and stuff.

Kevin: When did you first hear about the Bucs?

Davis: I really didn't have a lot of contact with them until I was drafted. Then I got to learn a lot about them after I was drafted.

Kevin: What is your least favorite trait in a person?

Davis: Probably dishonest, un-loyalty. People who stab each other in the back.

Kevin: Do you have a favorite movie?

Davis: Yeah, Good Will Hunting.

Kevin: What are your hobbies?

Davis: I like to fish, I like to hunt and spend time with family and friends. I love sports pretty much, baseball, football.

Kevin: What is your favorite holiday?

Davis: Definitely Christmas.

Kevin: What is your favorite sports-related movie?

Davis: Slapshot

Kevin: What is your hockey career highlight?

Davis: I say, playing in the High School tournament.

Kevin: When you're not playing hockey, where are we most likely to find you (in season or off season)?

Davis: In season, probably just hanging out with some of the guys or at the gym. Off-season, either at work or at the gym or maybe doing some fishing.

Kevin: If you were stranded on a desert island, whom would you want to be stranded with ... Britney Spears, Halle Berry, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez or Tara Reid?

Davis: Halle Berry

Kevin: Where would you like to go to college?

Davis: I like to play hockey close to home, at Wisconsin or Bemidji State.

Kevin: What is your favorite food?

Davis: Pasta.

Kevin: What web page do you check first when you go on-line?

Davis: USHL web site, to check out the standings.

Kevin: What is your favorite line from a movie?

Davis: That's a tough one, I am on the spot here. Probably a line from Tommy Boy with Chris Farley, take your pick, there is plenty to pick from.

Kevin: Who would you rather be, Bugs Bunny or Road Runner?

Davis: Bugs Bunny.

Kevin: What are your superstitions?

Davis: I'm pretty superstitious about the kind of food I eat. I have a regular routine.

Kevin: Who is faster, Speedy Gonzalez or the Road Runner?

Davis: Speedy.

Kevin: What is your favorite Des Moines radio station?

Davis: 97.3, the Hawk.

Kevin: Rank your opponent: Who is the toughest forward / defensemen / goaltender you have faced in the USHL?

Davis: I would goaltender (Phillipe) Lamoureux from Lincoln, he is real strong. Another guy from Lincoln for forward (Adam) Bartolomay, he is a good player. Defensemen, I will have to go with someone not from Lincoln, (Steve) Wagner from Tri-City.

Kevin: What is something you've always wanted to do, but haven't yet?

Davis: Elk hunting.

Kevin: Who would you rather be, Superman or Batman?

Davis: Superman.

Kevin: Which one, new or old Buccaneer logo?

Davis: Old.

Kevin: What is the last movie you have seen?

Davis: Along Came Polly.

Kevin: What is the last CD you have purchased?

Davis: Garth Brooks Greatest Hits.

Kevin: What is your favorite card game?

Davis: Euchre.

Kevin: Outside of Des Moines, who has the best logo in the league?

Davis: I like Sioux City's

Kevin: Any advice for younger hockey players?

Davis: Just keep the game fun, keep it simple.

Kevin: In the last six months, how many times have you locked yourself out of your car?

Davis: Ha ha, once! Hopefully that will be the last time.
