In-Depth Interview

Sarah: Does a loss motivate you to work harder for the next game?

Dave Boehm: Sure, no one wants to lose.

Sarah: How old where you when you started playing hockey?

D. Boehm: I started skating around two or three, and started playing in a league when I was five.

Sarah: Why did you start?

Boehm: My brother started skating and then my parents just influenced me to skate.

Sarah: How did you wind up being a team member for the Buccaneers?

Boehm: Originally I was playing for Lincoln and Coach Owens asked for a trade for me to come play here, so I was traded.

Sarah: What made you decide to come to the USHL?

Boehm: I left high school when I was a junior and figured I needed at least three years experience in order to get a division I scholarship. I came because of college.

Sarah: And you played at North Iowa, right?

Boehm: Right.

Sarah: Have you always been a forward?

Boehm: Yep.

Sarah: Tell me about some of the past teams you've played for?

Boehm: I played for my home town high school, Eau Claire North for three years and the North Iowa Huskies for three years. That's pretty much about it.

Sarah: Do you have a favorite pro and/or college team?

Boehm: No I don't.

Sarah: No, then do you have a favorite player?

Boehm: I like Theo Fleury as a player, Wayne Gretzky is a favorite too, Mike
Modano I guess.

Sarah: Besides hockey tell me about some of your other hobbies.

Boehm: I like music I guess, fishing. Gee, I don't know, I've been pretty busy I guess. I like to bike in the summer.

Sarah: Do you have a favorite music group?

Boehm: Phish

Sarah: What are a few of your goals for the future?

Boehm: Hopefully go to college for four years, take hockey as far as I can. After that, I don't know maybe start a career, hopefully not. Probably after college, move up to Colorado. I have no ideas, it's open.

Sarah: Do you like Colorado?

Boehm: Colorado, I'd like to go up there and live for a couple of years and ski. It's open after college, anything.

Sarah: Finish this sentence: The fans would be surprised to know that I...

Boehm: Wow I don't know, surprised to that I've been in this league for four years?! Maybe they'd be surprised that I worked in a day care center last year.
